Aquatic Birthday Parties
Options
What’s interesting, more and more Hotels with swimming pools offer now birthday parties. With a birthday package, you do not usually need to sleep there, but this could be an interesting option: a Pool Birthday Party combined with a Sleepover Party away from home, in a hotel!
Beaches and Waterparks are usually opened only during the summer. Have a Beach Birthday Party if you live close to the sea, ocean or a lake. Waterpark Birthday Parties are among the most exciting, with Waterslides, Water Canon Fights and even Water Tag (an alternative to Laser Tag where water canons are used instead). As general rule, all waterparks we have in our directory are also included in the Rides Birthday Party theme.Aquatic Birthday Parties also include fishing or exploration Cruises on a boat, rented from one of your local dealers. Rent Canoes or use services of a skipper and go explore the sea or the lake.
Safety
Most pools and waterparks have live guards to take care of adventurous people. When you book a birthday party, make sure a live guard is on duty and is aware particular attention must be given to your group.
Kids under 7 are not usually allowed in deep water pools. For toddlers (from 2-3 years old), the kiddie pool must be safe and not deep. Unless they have a fenced area for kids, try to avoid this kind of party for a group of tiny tots, because they are hard to supervise and may need frequent trips to the toilets (you may not have enough parents to take care of the kids left to play in the water).Water might be also cold and the risk of getting a flu is higher. Make sure the difference of temperature between the air and the water is not too high.
The floor is usually slippery and particular attention must be given to kids running around or engaged in water canon fights.
Being a good swimmer does not totally eliminate the risk. Try to avoid the deep water and don’t play dangerous games with your friends.Waterslides are surely exciting, but most have a certain level of difficulty. Particularly in waterparks, you will find extreme waterslides, for adults only. If you book for a group that does not have minimal required age for those slides, make sure there are enough other slides left, otherwise kids may feel frustrated.
Cost
Cost can start from as low as $50 for groups of 8 or more. This does not include food and beverage, cake and services of a party attendant, so consider something from $150 for all-included.For waterparks, try to get a group birthday package, because the park admission fee is included with a big discount or even free.
Many sports, fitness and recreation centers offer Pool Birthday Parties, but only to their members, or you get important discounts if you have an annual membership. If you’re already a member, this could be very appealing for your guests, if they do not all have membership and are allowed at your party. Community and municipal pools will also limit their access to residents or offer significant discounts if you leave in the area.
Cruise Birthday Party will require renting of a boat for at least 1-2 hours. This will cost more, but it may be worth the price. Book for kids from 10 years old up and make sure they stay on the boat in safe areas, with no risk to get overboard. Hire a skipper, it’s more confortable.
Checklist

Before you book a Pool Birthday Party at your closest recreation center or municipal pool, try to find in the area pools or waterparks with “something different”, such as exciting water slides, water park with water canons, wave pools, diving boards, salt water, sand playground, lazy river, waterfalls… Many indoor pools have now a high level of sophistication, you’d be surprised.
Make sure you have a party leader that will equally provide supervision for your group, live guard support and entertainment (water games).
Check for the minimal age kids are allowed in the pool you rent.
Make sure you have a party room, where kids can get after 1-2 hours of fun in the pool and serve the cake.
Ask everyone to get dry clothes, to change. In winter time, ask them to wear warm clothes when they leave. Check with the pool to see if they have all they need for kids after they are done with the pool.
Some pools may include free swimming lessons with a birthday party, or free lesson coupons for your next visit.
