Roller SkatingRoller Birthday Parties are very entertaining music and dance on roller skates. They are usually hosted on a Roller Rink (or Skatium), in a glowing dark disco/rock-style environment, with music and DJ. On the rink, everybody skates. They may have mascots, games and contests (for who’s skating and dancing most) with prizes (free tickets to energetic people). Aside there are tables where people enjoy food and soft drinks. Roller rinks can be also found in some amusement parks, indoor fun centers, recreation centers or even on some ice skating rinks temporarly dedicated to roller skating. There are also Skateboard Fields that start to organize parties for this type of sport.

There may be an admission fee, a rental fee for the skates and a separate price for the food. Check the birthday party packages and you may find all included. For instance, for 10 to 20 people and 2h of public session skating, you can have a party at $10 per person. For a total between $100 and $200. Better (inline) skates can be rented for $2-3 more.

Other packages offer a bulk rate for a limited number of people. You’re usually offered, if not a separate party room, a special (large) reserved party table, in a convenient corner. A Host(ess) will serve your party, but only on a sporadic basis.

Private parties are clearly more expensive, because you’re suppose to rent the whole rink (building, facility) for your group, for 1-2 hours. If you bring more than 30 people (and up to 50), you may consider this option. It’s definitely less expensive outside the regular public session (during the week and until the evening). For instance, there are packages with $400 for 2h, up to 50 skaters, during the week and before 6pm. Or even cheper deals to rent the whole building for $100. You may also find that important discount (such as 25%) are applied on “after-school” periods of certain days of the week, when there are not so many customers at the rink anyway.

A 50% deposit upon reservation is also customary.
